Dancing Malaysian Sheltie

When we were back in Penang, Sue from Penang Agility Association suggested to mommy that we should enter the Dancing with Dogs Competition organized by Malaysian Kennel Association. Mommy was rather hesitant as she wasn't interested in dancing with ME and she didn't think she had time to come up with a routine, let alone practice it. We only had 2 weeks to the competition and she would be away to Bali for one week.

Our Learned Furry Friend Chili

Mommy finally agreed to participate just so that I could go for habitat training. As mommy was too lazy not motivated to practice, she decided we shall just wing on that day itself. The only thing mommy did was to take out daddy's collar and make me wear it around the house. HER version of a dress rehearsal!

Sheesh, mommy was too kedekut to buy me a proper bow/tie, so she thought this collar will do. I ain't impressed.

During the first day of the competition, most of the dogs suffered from stage fright, myself included. It was soooooo weird having so many people and dogs looking at me that I was unable to dance despite mommy's coaxing and cajoling.

Psst... mommy was worried she would have a Marilyn Monroe moment with her dress as it was so windy.

At least it would have distracted the crowd from our routine, or the lack of it.

I was a lot better during the second day and was able to show off some of my moves. During the routine, I would freak out whenever people clap as I hate sudden loud noises. However, I manage to recover quite fast and continue my routine with mommy. The wonders of a big juicy meatball. Can you see it? It's in mommy's hand.

Hehe mommy's wearing a tennis skirt on the 2nd day just in case.

Paul the judge was kind enough to tell mommy how she may desensitize me from the clapping noises after the competition.

Hopefully this will help me in my reaction to loud noises. Boy do I hate them.

Mommy's pretty encouraged by the session. Perhaps we might dance again.

Drumming Lessons

For the longest time ever, mommy has been wanting to teach me how to drum but never got around to it. We only tried it whenever we are back in Penang with the bucket of fish food at grandpa's house.

Look how uninspiring the bucket is, it looks nothing like a drum. Thats why I never understood what she wanted.

During mommy & daddy's trip to Bali, they found a drum while wondering around Ubud Market (psstt... they ate so much of Ibu Oka's delicious lunch, they had to walk it off by shopping).

They said they had to bargain hard for the drum. The price went from 250,000 IDR to 50,000 IDR. Fair price?

I wish they would have save the trouble by getting me Ibu Oka's Babi Guling as a gift instead of the drum *sulk sulk*.

Now that they are back in Kuala Lumpur, our first drumming session consisted of mommy trying to keep the drum from tumbling over whenever I put my paws on it. We didn't get far during our first session as I would freak out and run away whenever the drum wobbled. When mommy finally figured out how to to hold the drum securely, I thought we were doing the elephant trick and would plant my front feet firmly on the drum and dance around with my back feet.

During our second session, mommy had the brilliant idea to wedged the drum in a bowl with my toys to keep it from falling over. Our drumming lesson were also done sitting on the floor to prevent me from dancing with my back legs.

Can shelties drum?

Tadaaa! Soli picture only. Video below.

U want me to sing too?

Now that the drum looks like A DRUM, our progress is much faster and I might be playing the tabla during mommy's yoga sadhanas. I am sure if they brought back babi guling and bebek from Bali, I would have mastered drumming in a session!

I Love Wagcations

Mommy and daddy jetted off to Bali for a vacation.

I too had a Wagcation whilst they were gone.

Instead of a luxurious bed to sleep on, I had to sleep on a doggie bed on the floor out of necessity as Dunks the Labrador would roll on me and squish me every time I tried to sleep on Nanny Mel's bed.

Dunks, you meanie *evil stare*

Despite having to suffer the indignity of sleep on the floor, I did not miss them whilst they were away as I've been having sooooo much fun bunking at Wagcations.

Mel sends them updates everyday about my crazy antics and how much fun I have everyday in an attempt to make them feel guilty. Everyday I:

1. Went out for walks around the neighborhood;

2. Zoomies;

3. Paw smacking all the big dogs, medium dogs, all dogs;

I demand that you play with me! Smack

More paw smacking

4. Going out "kai kai" and visiting cafes and new friends...

we went out more than once!
Zzzz...... so tired by the end of the day.

Don't you just love Wagcations?

Mommy & daddy promised that I will be having a good holiday with nanny Mel at Wagcations, and I'll have a great time playing zoom zoom with Dahlia everyday.

See I fit nicely into your suitcase.  You can check me and no one would know any better!

p.s. Aunty Kim says I should learn how to squeeze out tears to be more convincing. Maybe one day...

Cafe: 42 La Boheme, Penang

* So sad... La Boheme has closed. It was one of our favorite cafe to visit.

Mommy especially loves to go to La Boheme at No.42 Sri Bahari Road whenever she is back in Penang as not only they serve great food and desserts, they have quite a few vegetarian option on the menu as well.

Their selection of pastries and dessert menu

Mushroom Galette (mommy's fav)

Quiche Lorraine with Fresh Salad

Panna Cotta with mixed berries coulis AND ice cream

La Boheme serves really good pizzas, but mommy's fav is their Mushroom Galette! Nope I did not get to try it as Aunty Kim tried to feed me the salad! She must be mad. Me eat salad when I could smell the amazing aroma from the cream and cheese from the table!?!

They are well known for their desserts too. Even though mommy isn't a dessert person, she enjoyed the Panna Cotta, the only one dessert she managed to try. She always eats too much and no longer have space to try the desserts or pastries. Maybe one day she will go there just for the desserts, or maybe she can start with desserts first and then proceed with lunch?
